6. Changes or Cancellation by Slominski Arctic Safaris

Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to modify, postpone or cancel an activity if this is necessary for safety reasons, animal welfare, severe weather conditions, insufficient snow, force majeure or any other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Where possible, we will offer an alternative activity, an alternative departure time or a rescheduled booking.

If no suitable alternative can be arranged, the Guest will receive a full refund for the affected activity.

Slominski Arctic Safaris shall not be liable for any indirect costs incurred by the Guest, including but not limited to accommodation, transportation, flights, meals, loss of income or other consequential expenses.

7. Participation Requirements

Participation in our activities requires reasonable physical fitness, the ability to follow instructions and behaviour that does not compromise the safety of other participants, our staff or our dogs.

Guests are responsible for ensuring that they meet the physical and health requirements of the chosen activity before making a reservation.

Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to refuse participation or discontinue an activity if a Guest’s physical condition, behaviour or actions are considered to pose a safety risk to themselves, other participants, our staff or our animals.

No refund will be issued if participation is refused or terminated due to failure to comply with these Terms & Conditions or the guide’s safety instructions.

8. Health, Pregnancy and Medical Conditions

Guests are responsible for informing Slominski Arctic Safaris, before the activity begins, of any medical condition, illness, injury, disability or other circumstance that may affect their ability to participate safely.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • heart or cardiovascular conditions;
  • epilepsy;
  • asthma or other respiratory conditions;
  • diabetes;
  • back, neck, hip or joint problems;
  • recent surgery or injury;
  • reduced mobility;
  • any other medical condition that may be affected by physical activity or outdoor conditions.

If there is any doubt regarding a Guest’s ability to participate safely, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified medical professional before making a reservation.

Pregnancy:

If you are pregnant, please carefully consider whether this activity is suitable for you.

Although our husky safaris are conducted with safety as a priority, participants may be exposed to uneven terrain, sudden movements and changing trail conditions that cannot always be avoided.

We strongly recommend consulting your doctor before participating.

Participation during pregnancy is entirely at the Guest’s own discretion and risk.

Slominski Arctic Safaris accepts no responsibility for any pregnancy-related complications arising from participation, except where required under mandatory Finnish law.

9. Children

Children are welcome on our activities where the minimum age requirements for the selected tour are met.

Children must always be supervised by a responsible adult.

Parents or legal guardians are fully responsible for the safety, behaviour and supervision of their children throughout the activity.

Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to refuse participation if a child’s safety cannot reasonably be ensured.

10. Weight Requirements

For the safety of both our Guests and our dogs, participants who wish to drive a sled or cart must weigh at least 50 kg.

Guests below this weight limit may participate as passengers or in another role determined by the guide, depending on weather conditions, trail conditions, the activity and animal welfare considerations.

The guide’s decision regarding driving eligibility is final.

11. Alcohol, Drugs and Intoxicating Substances

The safety of our Guests, staff and dogs is our highest priority.

Guests must not participate in any activity while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, intoxicating substances or any medication that may impair judgement, balance, coordination or reaction time.

Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to refuse participation or immediately remove any Guest who appears to be under the influence of such substances or whose behaviour is considered unsafe.

No refund or compensation will be provided in these circumstances.

12. Clothing and Equipment

Guests are responsible for wearing suitable clothing appropriate for Arctic weather conditions and the activity booked.

Warm, weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and gloves are strongly recommended unless thermal clothing is included in the booked service.

Guests are responsible for ensuring that personal clothing and equipment are suitable for outdoor winter conditions.

Slominski Arctic Safaris accepts no responsibility for discomfort, injury or damage resulting from inadequate clothing or unsuitable personal equipment.

Guests must use all equipment provided by Slominski Arctic Safaris responsibly and in accordance with the guide’s instructions.

Any loss of or damage to equipment caused intentionally or through negligence may be charged to the Guest.

13. Safety Instructions and Guide’s Authority

Before each activity, all participants will receive a safety briefing and any necessary driving or equipment instructions. Guests must pay attention to these instructions and follow them throughout the activity.

Safety briefings are provided in English or another language where available. Guests are responsible for ensuring that they understand the guide’s instructions and must ask for clarification if anything is unclear.

The guide’s decisions are final in all matters relating to safety, route selection, pace of the activity and the welfare of the dogs.

Guests must immediately follow any instructions given by the guide during the activity.

Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to refuse participation or remove a Guest from an activity without refund if the Guest:

  • fails to follow safety instructions;
  • behaves in a reckless, dangerous or disruptive manner;
  • intentionally endangers themselves, other participants, staff or dogs;
  • damages equipment through misuse or negligence; or
  • otherwise prevents the safe operation of the activity.

14. Animals and Animal Welfare

The welfare of our dogs is fundamental to everything we do.

All dogs are cared for in accordance with Finnish animal welfare legislation and our own high standards of husbandry, training and daily care.

Although our dogs are well trained and accustomed to working with people, they remain living animals whose behaviour can never be predicted with absolute certainty.

Guests must always follow the guide’s instructions when approaching, handling or interacting with the dogs.

Guests must not feed the dogs or allow children to approach them without permission from the guide.

Any behaviour that may cause unnecessary stress, fear or harm to the dogs is strictly prohibited.

For the welfare of our animals, Slominski Arctic Safaris may modify, shorten or cancel an activity whenever necessary.

15. Weather Conditions and Route Changes

All activities take place in natural Arctic environments where weather, snow and trail conditions may change rapidly.

For safety reasons and to protect the welfare of our dogs, Slominski Arctic Safaris reserves the right to:

  • modify the route;
  • shorten or extend the duration of an activity;
  • change the order of activities;
  • substitute equipment or vehicles where appropriate; or
  • cancel an activity if conditions make it unsafe to operate.

Such decisions are made solely at the discretion of Slominski Arctic Safaris and our guides.

These operational changes do not automatically entitle Guests to compensation or a refund unless the activity is cancelled by Slominski Arctic Safaris and no suitable alternative can be offered.

16. Photography and Media

During our activities, photographs and videos may be taken by Slominski Arctic Safaris for operational, documentation and promotional purposes.

Where photographs or videos are intended for marketing or promotional use and a Guest is clearly identifiable, Slominski Arctic Safaris will process such images in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and, where required, obtain the Guest’s consent.

Guests who do not wish to be photographed or recorded are encouraged to inform their guide before the activity begins. While we will make reasonable efforts to respect such requests, we cannot guarantee that incidental appearance in group photographs or background footage can always be avoided.

All photographs, videos, logos and other media created by Slominski Arctic Safaris remain the intellectual property of Slominski Arctic Safaris and may not be copied, reproduced or used for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

17. Liability

Slominski Arctic Safaris is committed to providing its services with reasonable care, professional competence and in accordance with Finnish legislation.

Participation in outdoor adventure activities involves inherent risks that cannot be completely eliminated, including risks associated with weather conditions, uneven terrain, wildlife and working animals.

By participating in our activities, Guests acknowledge and accept these inherent risks.

Slominski Arctic Safaris shall only be liable for direct loss, injury or damage resulting from negligence or other liability imposed under mandatory Finnish law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slominski Arctic Safaris shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to:

  • travel expenses;
  • accommodation costs;
  • missed connections;
  • loss of income;
  • loss of enjoyment; or
  • other consequential financial losses.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion is prohibited by Finnish law.

18. Insurance

Slominski Arctic Safaris maintains all insurance required under Finnish legislation for the services we provide.

Where applicable, motor vehicles used during our activities are insured in accordance with Finnish Motor Liability Insurance legislation.

Guests are strongly encouraged to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering, where appropriate:

  • trip cancellation;
  • personal accident;
  • medical expenses;
  • evacuation;
  • personal liability; and
  • loss or damage to personal belongings.

Slominski Arctic Safaris is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property unless caused by our negligence.

19. Force Majeure

Slominski Arctic Safaris shall not be liable for any delay, modification, cancellation or failure to perform its obligations where such circumstances arise from events beyond our reasonable control.

Such events may include, but are not limited to:

  • severe weather conditions;
  • lack of snow or unsafe trail conditions;
  • natural disasters;
  • wildfire or flooding;
  • epidemics or pandemics;
  • government restrictions;
  • strikes or industrial action;
  • war or civil unrest;
  • transport disruptions; or
  • any other extraordinary circumstance that could not reasonably have been foreseen or prevented.

Where possible, Slominski Arctic Safaris will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative activity, an alternative departure time or a rescheduled booking.

20. Privacy

Slominski Arctic Safaris processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Finnish data protection legislation.

Personal information is collected only for purposes necessary to process reservations, deliver our services, comply with legal obligations and communicate with our Guests.

Personal data will not be disclosed to third parties except where required by law or where necessary for the provision of the booked services.

Further information regarding the processing of personal data is available in our Privacy Policy published on our website.

21. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please inform your guide as soon as possible during the activity. In many cases, concerns can be resolved immediately on site.

Please include your booking reference and a clear description of the issue.

Slominski Arctic Safaris will review all complaints fairly and respond within 30 days of receipt.
